PURPOSE. The main objective of the Organizational Institutionalism Paper Development workshop is to provide junior scholars with extensive feedback on their current research by leading researchers of the field and to help them develop their papers into publishable manuscripts. Compared to the various sub-themes focusing on institutional theory-related research, this workshop will rely more on small group discussions and include pragmatic issues related to publishing. The workshop is targeted at early career researchers and doctoral students, but is open to all scholars. We invite original work, both empirical and conceptual.

Accepted papers will be briefly presented and thoroughly discussed in round table-sessions with two established scholars per table. These scholars include Marie-Laure Djelic, Peer Fiss, Mike Lounsbury, Renate Meyer, William Ocasio, Trish Reay, Patricia Thornton, and Pe-ter Walgenbach.

The workshop takes place on Wednesday, July 6, 2011, between 9:00 and 15:00. The day will start with a short discussion of current topics and challenges in the field followed by round tables with the presentation and discussion of the accepted papers. All participants are expected to have read the papers of their fellow session presenters and be ready to contribute to the discussion. The workshop is limited to no more than 16 papers.

APPLICATION PROCESS. All scholars interested in developing their papers towards pub-lishable articles are invited to apply. However, preference will be given to the PhD and early career scholars. To be considered as an early career scholar, the applicant needs to have completed her/his doctoral thesis within the last three years. Please submit (via the EGOS website) a single document (doc, docx or pdf file) of application that includes:

  1. On the first page: a short letter of application containing full details of name, address (postal address, phone, fax and email), affiliation (date of PhD completion for early career scholars), a statement of why the applicant considers it valuable to attend the workshop, as well as an indication of what journal(s) the paper is likely to be submitted to
  2. A full paper that you want to develop to a publishable stage

Applications must be submitted via the EGOS website. Submission period for applications:
Start: February 15, 2011
End: March 15, 2011, 23:59:59 CET

PLEASE NOTE. The same research paper cannot be submitted to both a pre-Colloquium Paper Development Workshop and to a regular sub-theme. However, sub-theme conveners may suggest that papers submitted to them should be redirected from the sub-theme to the Paper Development Workshop.

Applicants will be notified on the outcome of their application to the workshop by the end of March, 2011. Given the interactive nature of the workshop, the number of participants will be limited. Hence, it is advisable to register for the workshop as early as possible.
Upon acceptance to the workshop, participants will be given the opportunity to update their paper by June 1, 2011 (fixed deadline) via the EGOS website.

Participants are encouraged to apply also to the other pre-Colloquium activities as well as to regular Colloquium program. Please see details on the Colloquium website at: www.egosnet.org

The final workshop registration must be completed separately to the paper submissions and registration (conference fee required) for the main EGOS Colloquium.
