General Information

Colloquium venue

The main Colloquium venues are HEC Montréal's two buildings:

On-site Colloquium registration will be held in CSC (Côte-Ste-Catherine) building:

  • Wednesday, July 3, 12:00 to 21:00
  • Thursday, July 4, 8:00 to 17:00
  • Friday, July 5, 8:00 to 17:00
  • Saturday, July 6, 8:00 to 11:00

To avoid a rush on the Thursday morning, we strongly recommend that you register on Wednesday.

Please note that the Welcome Reception will be held in CSC building on Wednesday evening, from 18:00 to 20:00.

All pre-Colloquium activities and workshops will also be held in that building.

Badges: Each participant will receive a name badge upon registration. For security reasons, all participants are requested to wear their badge during all Colloquium activities and social events.

Coupons for meals and social activities will be provided upon registration and all participants are expected to provide the appropriate coupon at time of service. Coffee breaks and lunches are included in the registration fee and will be served on Thursday, July 4, Friday, July 5 and Saturday, July 6, 2013. Please make sure that you indicate specific dietary requirements on the registration form.

Some sub-plenaries and sub-themes will be held at Université de Montréal's Jean-Brillant building (adjacent to the Decelles building). The Opening Ceremony will be held at Université de Montréal's Roger-Gaudry building. All these buildings are less than 15 minutes walk from each other. No transportation will normally be provided between buildings. However, should you have mobility problems and need transportation, please indicate this on the registration form.

No transportation will be provided for any of the social events.

All sub-theme rooms are equipped with PC computers and MS Office suite. Computer rooms with internet access will also be available in CSC and Decelles buildings.

Please note that electrical outlets in Canada provide the same current as in the United States – i.e. 120 volts (60 cycles) – and are grounded Type-B North American standard (accepting two flat pins, with an optional third round pin for grounding). Appliances designed to operate on European outlets will need a voltage converter and a plug adapter.

Local transportation

Arrival at Trudeau airport: The least expensive means of transportation from the airport to downtown Montréal is the 747 bus shuttle (www.stm.info/English/info/a-747.htm). The bus stops at ten convenient locations close to most downtown's hotels (for a map, please see: www.stm.info/English/bus/planibus/747.pdf).

A taxi from Dorval to downtown Montréal is a fixed CAD 40 fare (taxi drivers expect a 10–15% gratuity).

For more information on Trudeau airport, please see: www.admtl.com/Passengers/Home.aspx

Getting around Montréal: Public transport is a great way to see the city. Montréal's metro is safe and affordable; operating hours are Monday to Friday and Sunday from 5:30am to 1am., and Saturday from 5:30am to 1:30am. The average waiting time between trains is eight minutes and three minutes during rush hour. In addition, there are 196 bus lines to choose from (30 of which operate during the night). For more information about public transportation in Montréal, please visit www.stm.info/English/info/a-touristes.htm.

If you prefer getting around by taxi, it's easy to flag one down on the street. You'll also find them at one of the city’s many taxi stands or in front of most major hotels.

Montréal also boasts a public bike system called "Bixi". Hop on a bike at one of the 400 Bixi stations, explore the city and leave your bike at any other bike dock, all for a low fee (http://montreal.bixi.com/ride-with-bixi/functioning).
