have the opportunity to briefly introduce and clarify their work, and (b) space is given for discussion that stimulates and
helps these authors in the further development of their paper, and contributes to the general understanding of the central
research theme.
This means that each slot involves:
1. presentation by authors (max. 10 mins)
2. brief questions from designated “discussants” (max. 5 mins)
3. response from authors
4. open Q & A
Discussants are taken from the presenters of the other papers in the same session. Their role is to highlight and discuss a limited number of important issues of the paper (say 2–3) in a way that is (a) helpful for the authors, and (b) contributes to the general understanding of the theme.
