Onsite Activities for Pre-Colloquium Participants

Important information

In order to join the EGOS Colloquium 2026 onsite in Bergamo, you must be either accepted to one of the pre-Colloquium workshops on Tuesday, July 7 or be part of the faculty running these workshops.

Except for the two groups mentioned, onsite participation in Bergamo is not possible!

The Pre-Colloquium of the EGOS Colloquium 2026 in Bergamo will start on Monday, July 6 and continue until Wednesday, July 8, 2026. It will combine academic development with various opportunities for networking and social interaction.

Participants attending the pre-Colloquium workshops on Tuesday, July 7, are welcome to stay in the city for the entire duration of the EGOS main Colloquium. In addition to the option to follow the online parts of the program (sub-theme sessions, PDWs, and other activities) from the University of Bergamo's dedicated spaces (such as classrooms and libraries), participants will also have the opportunity to take part in hybrid sub-plenaries as part of the EGOS Colloquium program.

Catering, including lunch and coffee breaks, will be available for the entire duration of the pre- and main Colloquium. By partnering with a local social enterprise that empowers people with disabilities and promotes their societal inclusion, the EGOS Colloquium 2026 endorses a socially responsible initiative blending high-quality food with meaningful impact. This fosters community recognition and active participation.

Moreover, during the entire week, the onsite program will include early-morning and evening sports activities in collaboration with CUS Bergamo, such as Yoga, postural gymnastics, or running along the Venetian walls. Opportunities to explore the rich culture of Bergamo will be offered on Thursday and Friday evenings.

Wednesday July 8 – PDWs, EGOS Networks, & Opening Ceremony

The pre-Colloquium Workshops (PDWs) as well as the Strategy-as-Practice (SAP) Community Day and the EGOS Feminist Network Meeting will be held in an online only setup. The University of Bergamo will provide several rooms for participants of the Tuesday workshops who stay in Bergamo and wish to follow the online program.

In the evening, the official EGOS Opening Ceremony 2026 will take place onsite in Bergamo and is streamed live to attendees around the globe, allowing participants everywhere to join the event in real time. Conceived as an institutional and participatory moment, it marks the official start of the EGOS Colloquium 2026.

Starting at 18:00 CEST, the EGOS Opening Ceremony will be held in the Auditorium of Piazza della Libertà, in the heart of the city of Bergamo. A highlight of the ceremony will be the live experimental performance by Telmo Pievani, a renowned Italian philosopher of science and science communications.

During his performance, Telmo Pievani will engage in a real-time dialogue with a generative artificial intelligence system, which will respond dynamically to his reflections. The interaction will be shaped by live prompts from a digital artist, creating an evolving exchange that explores the opportunities and risks arising from the interplay between humans, the enviroment, and intelligent machines—core themes of the EGOS Colloquium 2026.

Bringing together participants in Bergamo, attendees at local hubs, and those connecting remotely from around the world, the Opening Ceremony 2026 will foster a shared sense of connection and engagement from the very outset of the Colloquium.
