Organizational Research for Good? Behind the Facades
The University
of Bath School of Management is delighted to be chosen as host for EGOS Colloquium 2029. The General theme of EGOS 2029
will invite organizational scholars to challenge, debate, and exemplify what it means to conduct organizational research for
good. Bath is an ideal place to engage in these discussions. Research in the city has generated a host of societally useful
innovations from the discovery of Uranus to the invention of the bagless vacuum cleaner. It is also a beautiful city, a double
UNESCO World Heritage Site steeped in picturesque Roman and Georgian architecture.
However, behind the facades
lies an ugly history of wealth built on the slave trade. As we look to the future to develop research for good, we also have
to unpack existing beliefs and reconsider the lessons from our past.
There is tremendous enthusiasm among our faculty
for hosting this Colloquium here in Bath. A high proportion of our researchers view EGOS as the highlight of their annual
calendar. Many have presented or hosted their own sub-themes at previous EGOS Colloquia, and multiple faculty members serve
on the editorial boards of Organization Theory and Organization Studies.
